Aloha, I have replaced all my jalosie windows with Vinyl and they look fab. I have got 6 sliding aluminum doors that work okay and such but was wondering if spray painting the aluminum a white would work if I painsakingly taped off the part to be sprayed. If this is a good idea, what would you recommend? A spray paint or painting with a metal type paint and a paintbrush. This would be sooooooo much cheaper than replacing the windows.Thank you.
Cindy, thanks for your great question. Congrats on replacing all your windows-they even sound great via a written comment
Spray paint or painting with a paint brush would both work. The concern with spraying is overspray on the adjacent areas but you can take care of this issue like you said with taping off. Before you do anything makes sure to clean the surface then apply a good outdoor primer. I’ve always had luck with Rust-oleum. Here’s a link that might help you. http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=157
After letting the primer dry make sure to paint within 1-2 days so that your primer will work properly. If it’s left to sit for more than a week the top coat of paint may not adhere as well. Again, I’d use a Rust-Oleum paint meant for metal. Hope this helps but let me know your thoughts.
